PostSort now supports filtering out addresses with unknown postal codes. By default, however, these are accepted. If postage optimization results in an Extra sorted shipment, PostSort will handle any recipients with unknown postal codes by creating a small batch specifically for them. This is because PostNord now requires that all postal codes in an Extra Sorted shipment of 100,001 items or more correspond to recipients whose postal codes exist in their official control file.

If this option in unchecked, unknown postal codes will instead be treated as invalid during the postal code validation process.

Specify whether Data Matrix codes shall be created.

Data Matrix

These codes are being introduced by PostNord to ensure efficient handling at both terminals and delivery offices. The codes contain information that simplifies product sorting and can easily be generated here in PostSort.

When do they take effect?

The rollout will occur gradually. Initially, only Periodicals (PT) and large Markering Material (DR) items (magazine format measuring at least 90 x 140 cm) are included. Starting in 2026, customers who pay postage will be able to receive a discount for shipments that include these codes. Therefore, a paying customer number must be specified in order to generate them.
